Priority 1 Report

This month's report in Student Achievement and Post Secondary Preparedness included data and progress in STAAR comparisons from 2023 to 2024, as well as previewed the district's target for the 2024 STAAR test in all areas. Overall performance on spring interim assessments exceeds the prior year for meets and masters in all content areas. Additionally, information regarding SAT performance, as well as support provided, was reviewed.

Priority 2 Report

Information regarding input from staff, teachers, and administrators through the Gallup survey was shared during Employee Retention and Satisfaction portion of the report, along with recent data regarding turnover rate percentages, details around how the district uses stay and exit interviews to understand and respond to turnover, and the various ways the district provides employee support.

Board Approves Instructional Materials for Science

Following presentations to the district's instructional materials committee, teacher and community feedback opportunities, and a final review from the committee, trustees approved K-12 Texas Science by McGraw Hill as the science instructional materials selection for GCISD.

2024-2025 Initial Budget Projections Presented

Chief Financial Officer Derick Sibley presented information on the preparation of the budget for the 2024-2025 school year, including estimated revenue and expenditures, along with information on a future Voter Approved Tax Ratification Election (VATRE) to propose three additional golden pennies in the Maintenance & Operations tax rate, which would not be subject to recapture and would generate nearly $6 million in revenue for the district to support daily operating costs and staff compensation.

Annual GCISD Compensation Study Report

HR Services from the Texas Association of School Boards presented a report of its annual pay study process, which includes data collection, market pay review and models for improvement recommended for competitive compensation. The report detailed the gains the district has made in closing gaps in market comparison for teacher pay, along with market salary information on administration, professional, technology, clerical, instructional support and auxiliary staff, and a review of stipends.

Transfer Opportunities Open to Children of City Employees

Trustees voted to update Board Policy FDA(LOCAL) to include allowing the children of employees at the City of Colleyville and the City of Grapevine to attend GCISD schools.

Mandy Ozuna Named Director of Counseling

“Mandy’s experience serving at all levels within education, coupled with her focus on supporting student and staff growth, are some of the many reasons she will make a positive impact in her new role,” Dr. Brad Schnautz said. “She has a heart for helping students and families, and I’m excited for her to continue serving our GCISD community.”
