This month’s GCISD’s Balanced Scorecard report focused on Priority 4, Strong Financial Stewardship and Internal System Efficiency, specifically, Performance Objective 4.2: Effective and Efficient District Operations. As part of the continuous improvement cycle in transportation, goals were measured for routes in terms of increasing efficiency and improving on-time performance, all while keeping with tight bell schedules and at a time when there is a nationwide driver shortage. The presentation included information about how routes are established each year for regular education and special education students. For transportation of general education students, efficiencies have increased compared to the previous school year by adjusting bus stops and routes, thereby increasing bus ridership. For special education transportation, efficiencies were achieved compared to the previous year by being able to transport more students without adding a route since more students were eligible for services, and maintaining route times.
