A Letter from the Board

Board memebers

Dear GCISD,

Well… we’ve officially made it to that time of year that some of us refer to as “Maycember.” It sure does seem like after Spring Break time just flew! I hope all of our GCISD moms had a wonderful day yesterday. Whether you were met with flowers and breakfast in bed, or up at the crack of dawn to spend the morning at a baseball tournament, please know how much you are loved and appreciated.

Time lately has been filled with wonderful events. I especially enjoyed Bransford’s “Lion King JR” production. It was incredible to see so much hard work come to fruition and the pride that both students and staff had for the show.

Retirees with principals

We recently celebrated GCISD retirees and in that group, we had over 900 years of service in education. Wow… just wow! I appreciate every single one of them for pouring into our students and I enjoyed hearing lots of stories on their plans for retirement – a common theme was not setting an alarm… ha!

Our 2nd annual “Walk a Mile with GCISD” happened May 7 at Mustang Panther Stadium. It is always a perfect time to come together and walk the track, throw a frisbee and be together as a community.

All of the banquets and end of year celebrations are in full swing. Milestones are happening. I specifically remember how bittersweet it was when my boys were inching up to being done with elementary school. A part of me didn’t want them to move on and be middle schoolers but our HES teachers had prepared them well and they soared (just like an HES Eagle should). That being said, parents, soak up all the moments of this crazy time of year. Soon it will be summer, and you will have something in common with our recent retirees… not setting an alarm!

And lastly, a special mention to the graduating Class of 2024. You are ready, you have honored our legacy, achieved excellence, and are equipped for the future. You have all made us very proud.

Have a wonderful summer, GCISD!

Warm regards,

Kathy Spradley
