Grapevine-Colleyville Independent School District

A Letter from the Board

Board members 2024-2025

Happy February, GCISD!

I love the month of February, and I think many of you do, too. There are so many fun activities at our elementary schools celebrating Valentines Day. Being a former teacher and basketball coach, I always loved February because that meant it was basketball playoff time, and I knew March Madness was just around the corner.

The board and administration are closely following what is currently going on in our 89th Texas Legislative Session and how it directly affects our school district. In GCISD, we have aligned with several districts across the state in a collaborative initiative to fund schools first, an effort by teachers, parents, business leaders and school leaders to ask lawmakers to increase public school funding (fundschoolsfirst.org). Please join us by contacting our local representatives and speaking up for GCISD.

We are blessed to live in a community that supports our school district. Our students have some of the best teachers, coaches, administrators, and district leaders in the state of Texas! Here are some of the highlights that have happened in our district over the last few weeks:

  • The Second Annual Special Olympics Bocce Ball Tournament took place

  • We celebrated National School Counseling Week the first week of February, Crossing Guard Appreciation Day on February 10 and School Resource Officer Appreciation Day on February 15

  • 19 members of the Class of 2025 have been named National Merit Finalists

  • Six GCISD wrestlers advanced to the State Championship

  • CHHS & GHS Swim and Dive Teams advanced to State Meet

  • GHS Girls Basketball & CHHS Boys Basketball teams both qualified for the playoffs

  • iUniversity Prep launched their first chapter of DECA

  • 104 GCISD DECA students qualified for the state competition

  • Ten GCISD student athletes signed their National Letter of Intent to compete at the collegiate level at the most recent Signing Day on February 5

  • February is also CTE Month, which stands for Career & Technical Education

These are just a few of the many accomplishments and activities that have been going on across our district over the last month. As we approach the end of February, there are many of you who are already looking forward to your Spring Break plans with your friends and families. I also hope you enjoyed this President's Day weekend and were able to spend time making memories with your families. As board members, we would all like to thank you for your continued partnership and commitment to Honor our Legacy, Equip for the Future and Achieve Excellence here in GCISD.
