A Letter from the Board

Board memebers

Happy February, GCISD!

As we embark on 2024, it’s hard to believe that we are already rolling into the last half of the school year. Time flies when you’re dedicated to shaping bright futures for our students. Let’s celebrate the successes of the past year and look forward to the possibilities that lie ahead.

Serving as a Trustee this year, I have had the opportunity to see so many incredible things that go on daily in GCISD. Our students are accomplishing amazing things in athletics, fine arts, FFA, school clubs, and most importantly, in the classroom. It has also become very apparent to me that our students have some of the best teachers, coaches, administrators, and district leaders in the state of Texas and I am so grateful. Here are some of the highlights that have happened in our district over the last few weeks:

Trustee Dianna Sager
CHHS Basketball Team
  • Our district recognizes and celebrates February as Black History Month

  • We celebrated National School Counseling Week the first week of February and School Resource Officer Day on February 15

  • 14 members of the Class of 2024 have been named National Merit Finalists

  • CHHS Girls Basketball claimed the Area Title

  • Ten GCISD wrestlers advanced to the State Championship

  • CHHS & GHS Swim and Dive athletes advanced to State Meet

  • Dove Elementary hosted its annual Friendship Day

  • CHHS Senior, Priscilla Roberts, sold her Angus steer at the Fort Worth Stock Show and Rodeo

  • GHS Senior, Jack Hasper, finished as a State Qualifier at UIL Congress

Priscilla Roberts
CTE Month: CMA Student
  • Nine GHS student athletes signed commitment letters to play at the collegiate level

  • CHHS Head Wrestling Coach Dan McCready was inducted into the Texas Wrestling Hall of Honor

  • Grapevine Elementary & Heritage Elementary participated in One School One Book

  • February is also CTE Month, which stands for Career & Technical Education, and our CTE programs provide unique educational options for enhancing the knowledge and skills required for employment in a knowledge-based economy

These are just some of the many accomplishments and activities that have been going on across our district in only a month’s time. As we approach the end of February, I know that many of you are already looking forward to your Spring Break plans with your friends and families. I used to always tell my high school students, as soon as you get back from Spring Break, graduation is just around the corner. I hope you all enjoyed holiday weekend and were able to spend time making memories with your families. I also want to thank you for your continued partnership and commitment to Honor our Legacy, Equip for the Future, and Achieve Excellence here in GCISD.
