Grapevine-Colleyville Independent School District

A Letter from the Board

Board members 2024-2025

Hello, GCISD!

It's that time of the year where we all can't believe how fast it's going. To me, it always feels like after spring break things just fly by. I want to give a shout out to all the senior parents going through all the feelings right now. You've got this and we are all so proud of our soon-to-be graduates as they are about to take their walk across the stage!

Speaking of walking... we had the third annual GCISD Walk a Mile at Mustang Panther Stadium last week. It is quickly turning into one of my favorite events as it is a wonderful time to take a few laps and make some new friends along the way. It especially warmed my heart to see so many of our local Grapevine and Colleyville police officers out walking and having fun with kids and adults alike. I even witnessed a foot race between our SROs and one of our media student interns... the student won! 😉

Also, our second class of Leadership GCISD will be graduating tomorrow. I highly recommend applying to participate in this program. It is an eye opening opportunity to learn things I promise you didn't know before. Our leadership team is working to finalize dates and details for the fall and spring classes for the 2025-2026 school year so keep your eye out for that information to be communicated in the coming weeks.

We are looking forward to celebrating our special olympics athletes at the annual luncheon hosted by the Grapevine Rotary early next month. Hosting Mustang Panther Relays every year is always an exciting time... and as you can see, no one gets more excited about cheering on our athletes than Dr. Schnautz!

And last, but certainly not least, our students continue to excel in every arena:

  • Our girls soccer teams both ended the season with medals – Colleyville Heritage winning the silver in 5A Division I and Grapevine winning bronze in 5A Division II. What an incredible season for both teams!

  • Girls and boys from both CHHS and GHS golf teams will be headed to their respective state tournaments. Girls will compete April 28-29 and boys May 5-6.

  • The Collegiate One-Act Play is on a roll again this year, heading to regionals later this week for a chance to compete at state for the second consecutive year.

  • Just over the weekend, three of our track and field athletes qualified for the state meet that will take place in Austin May 1-3.

  • If you haven't yet, be sure to check out our the work of our talented student artists on display at the Grapevine Convention and Visitors Bureau through April 23.

We have so much to be proud of here in GCISD. As the year winds down and we all prepare our summer plans I wish you all a restful summer break. We are almost to the finish line! Our students and staff have done an exceptional job this year at honoring our legacy, equipping for the future and achieving excellence.

Sincerely,

Kathy Florence-Spradley
